My House is Rockin’
I’m always happy when my creative career intersects with my musical obsession. Here you’ll find several examples of my soundtrack & composition work for clients like AT&T, Gillette, Saab, GMC, and more. I don’t work with pre-cooked loops or any other kind of stock material – every piece is an original gem, meticulously crafted to enhance online and video experiences. And it all comes to life in my little Boston basement, where modern-day production techniques meet with 120-year-old flagstone, brick, and cast-iron plumbing. I use a wide array of software synthesis tools, and a healthy dose of real instruments – all of it written, arranged, engineered, and played by, well…me. Let me know what you think.
Gillette Vibemaker – 20 Genres in 03:30
20 Genres in 03:30
If you don’t want to listen to all these clips and you just want to get an idea of my range and versatility, you might as well start with this bunch of clips I created for the Gillette “Vibemaker” site. At the site, young women could configure their “vibe” graphically and musically – so I needed to create as many thematic variations as possible for ambient background loops.
GMC Acadia – New Vehicle Launch
GMC Acadia Launch
GMC’s entry into the crossover SUV market was aimed at modern young moms, and introduced with a beautiful website. This mix showcases highlights from various sections of the site experience, each one built around central melodic theme.
FedEx Racing – Tear it Up
FedEx Racing – Tear it Up
What could be a better setting for FedEx Racing’s NASCAR promo blitzkrieg than some Steve Vai-inspired guitar shredding? This piece was sliced and diced for various video clips, websites, and animations. Let ‘er rip!
Gillette Fusion – High Tech Ambiance
Gillette Fusion – High Tech Ambiance
Gillette’s Fusion Series of razors represents the state of the art in razor technology and style. The website experience was a futuristic, hi-tech environment, hosted by a sexy “scientist” who led you through a series of labs and showrooms. These tracks added some sci-fi voodoo to the experience.
CSI and GMC Yukon
CSI and GMC Yukon
When GMC’s Yukon XL Denali joined CSI’s investigative team on CBS, there were websites and videos galore to promote the vehicle’s integration into the hugely popular show. Since CSI uses classic tracks from The Who in their opening credits, it made sense to capitalize on the vibe and really rock out. I had fun with this one, from sketching out song ideas to crafting that gnarly John Entwhistle bass tone.
CSI – Investigating Yukon Denali
CSI – Investigating Yukon Denali
An extension of the above assignment. This was the soundtrack for a special CSI/Yukon Denali co-branded site experience in which visitors could “uncover” various facts about the gas-guzzlin’ super-SUV featured on the show. This was a great chance for me to go for some moody, murky, crime scene atmosphere. Had a great time with this.
More to Come
I’ll post more of my soundtrack work soon.
